Revised Chess Club calendar

Dear Members,

The revised calendar I sent to you on the 8th August had an error, I left out the NSWCA Presentation night which will be held in our Club room on 13th September, it will be a major event for our Club as we won all 3 divisions by a large score, apart from receiving 3 1st prizes 10 of our players will each receive a board prize. NSWCA will also conduct a lightning competition on that night. You are all welcome to attend.

The calendar will be as follows:

Tonight the finals of the Club Lightning Competition together with casual games.

Wednesday 30th August – GM Ian Rogers lecture.
Wednesday 6th September – casual games.
Wednesday 13th September – NSWCA Presentation.
Wednesday 20th September – Bobby Fischer Cup.
Wednesday 27th September -       ‘’        ‘’          ‘’
Wednesday 4th October        -       ‘’        ‘’          ‘’

Please let me know if you will attend the Ian Rogers lecture before 6.00pm Friday 25th August so I can organise seating and order the food.

Ryde-Eastwood Chess Club sweeps the 2017 NSWCA Grade Matches

In the just-completed 2017 NSWCA Grade Matches, Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club Chess Club has made a clean sweep in all three divisions.

In the U1500, Ryde-Eastwood has 28.5/36 and is the winner.
In the U1700, Ryde-Eastwood also has 28.5/36 and is the winner.
In the U2100, Ryde-Eastwood also has 24/28 and is the winner.

Congrats!!! Ryde-Eastwood is the Magnus Carlsen of Sydney!!!

Programme for August and September

Dear Members,

There is a slight change to our calendar, our Lightning Competition will not start tomorrow it will start on Wednesday 16th August, with the final rounds being played on the following Wednesday 23rd August, tomorrow, Wednesday 9thAugust we will have casual games. If you would like to compete in the Lightning Competition you must let me know before 6.00pm on Tuesday 15th August.

On Wednesday 30th August we have Australia’s greatest Grand Master Mr Ian Rogers giving us a lecture on chess, the lecture will start at 7.30pm and finish at 10.30pm, during the lecture we provide some finger food for the Members, there will be no chess played during the lecture.

On Wednesday 6th, 13th and 20th September we will have the Bobby Fischer Cup Tournament.
